Well yesterday night Dawn and I got a small start on my Hufflepuff robes by cutting out the pattern and getting it ready to pin down on the fabric. I love the colors I got but the material got really wrinkled in the washing machine and I don’t want to even think about how long it’s going to take to iron it!
Dawn is of the opinion that after we pin the pattern to me to check for size we should be able to get all of the black cut out and quite possibly start on the yellow fabric. Personally I hope she sticks around long enough so that we can also get the yellow cut out. That way I can iron the pieces during the week so that they are all nice and wrinkle-free when she comes by the following Saturday.
Thanks to conflicting and extremely busy schedules we can only get together on Saturday mornings which means it will be about a month or so until the robe is finished. On top of that were going to have to make the sleeve holes a bit smaller, but that shouldn’t be too hard.
Luckily I don’t have to get to many more pieces for the costume to be complete. I plan on using my skirt and dress shirt from my Gryffindor uniform. All I’ll need to buy is a Hufflepuff patch, the scarf, and I’ll have to find a tie. As far as the tie is concerned I’m thinking of getting a yellow tie and then a black paint pen and coloring in the spaces. Right now that’s what I think my best bet will be. Unless I can find a tie in the store like it. Just got to keep looking! |
